This was a dance film by Sydney Samson that was filmed in Indiana Dunes National Park in February 2020 for her senior project.
The Playdate Vignettes
I had the pleasure of performing in Laura Patterson’s BFA distinction thesis with this amazing group of dancers. We used site-specific improvisation to develop playful movement and relationships with each other.
What is over the body and what is under the light
This performance was an exploration between group improvisation and lighting improvsation by Dian Jing for her MFA thesis.
We spent months trying out all kinds of prompts and relationships and this live showing was a peek into that process. Dian would give us a new set of prompts and a new set of groups just before the show and then she would improvise on the lighting board in response to our movements, and we would respond to her lighting choices according to the prompts she had given us. It was a really wonderful exploration of emergent structures in improvisational groups and was really a one of a kind experience.

Vantage Being
This performance was choreographed by Brianna Johnson for her MFA thesis exploring states of being and interactive technology.
This piece was performed in Urban Arts Space and included live interactive displays that the audience could interact with. While the larger piece was about the way the technology and performance impacted the audience, our primary focus as dancers was our relationships to each other. We had each developed a specific set of movement habits or “creatures” through many many improvisational practices. Eventually we developed those movements into this set piece of choreography that was led by impulse, habit, and response.
Escape/Heal
I choreographed this piece as a final project in my composition class and used ethnographic techniques to explore the process of healing through movement.
The Earth in Us
This video was produced by Will Sharp during a collaborative experiment between us exploring light, film, and dance.
TedXOSU – What on Earth?
Several of my friends nominated me to be a part of the Ohio State University TEDx event this year. I really enjoyed getting the chance to put my thoughts out there and be a part of such a wonderful event.
Resiliency Solo
This was a solo I created for my sophomore composition class exploring weight, fall, and recovery.
Agiocochook
This piece was choreographed by Laura Patterson for the OSU Spring Concert inspired by her experience climbing Mount Washington and the required trust between the team of climbers.
Marshland
This was a piece I created during a composition class exploring the relationships between the inhabitants of a wetland ecosystem.
