Collections from Beaver Marsh Site Visit
Beaver Marsh is located in Cuyahoga National Park which was about a two hour drive from Columbus. I traveled with two of my dancers: Madeline Denman and Rosely Polanco. When we arrived I used about an hour to take some sound recordings and videos of the marsh while Maddie and Rosely wandered around on their own and got to know the location better. Following the hour of digital collecting on my part we found a grassy area off of the main walking path to enjoy the rest of the scores. This site was unique in that there was heavy foot traffic moving through it at all times. Cuyahoga National Park is a very fragmented park that is long and thin and you are often driving through neighborhoods to get to the locations within the park. This sparked a lot of conversation for us around the benefits of having protected “natural” areas near where we live as well as the possible drawbacks. It was a great example of how what we call “natural” often isn’t as separated from our human history as we would like to think.
This is the movement response that Maddie and I created using a modified version of the Creating Habitat score at Beaver Marsh.
This was my physical response to the Collaborative Observation score that was used in Beaver Marsh.
